LPU Welcomes Mya Castro as Sports Info & Game Management Coordinator

SAN DIMAS, Calif. – Life Pacific University Athletics has announced the hiring of Mya Castro as its new Sports Information and Game Management Coordinator, effective July 1, 2026. Castro will also serve as assistant coach for the Warriors' women's beach volleyball program.

In her new role, Castro will lead the Warriors' sports information and game management efforts, overseeing athletic communications, website and social media content, statistics, game-day operations, media materials and conference reporting. She will also collaborate with coaches, officials, conference staff, and opposing institutions to support the successful execution of athletic events.

Castro brings two years of experience within the LPU Athletics Department, having served as both an athletics intern and graduate assistant under Director of Athletics Davis Nuaimi. She is passionate about using creativity and storytelling to highlight LPU's student-athletes while continuing to enhance the experience for everyone who is part of Warrior Athletics.

"We are so excited to welcome Mya to the team!" Nuaimi said. "During her time as a former student-athlete at LPU, she served as the Sports Information Intern, where she quickly elevated the quality of our graphics, articles and social media. Her passion and vision for the branding of the department is exciting, and we are so lucky to have her join!"

A former collegiate student-athlete, Castro began her athletic career at Riverside City College in 2020, where she competed in indoor and beach volleyball while studying journalism and communications. During her time at RCC, she wrote for the college's student newspaper, Viewpoints, covering athletics through game recaps, feature stories and columns. Her work earned recognition from the Journalism Association of Community Colleges.

Castro transferred to Life Pacific University in 2023, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communications while competing as a member of the Warriors' women's beach volleyball program. During her time at LPU, she served as the athletics department's sports information intern before returning in 2025 to pursue her Master of Business Administration. While pursuing her graduate degree, Castro competed for the women's indoor volleyball team and served as a graduate assistant for both the athletics department and the beach volleyball program.

In addition to her communications experience, Castro brings four years of coaching experience in indoor and beach volleyball. Most recently, she served as assistant coach for Bishop Amat High School's girls beach volleyball team, helping guide the program to a third-place finish in the Del Rey League and a CIF postseason appearance. She also served as the graduate assistant for LPU's beach volleyball program during the 2026 season, contributing to player development, practice planning, and match-day operations.

"I'm excited to step into this new role with LPU Athletics," Castro said. "As a former student-athlete, I understand the dedication, challenges and memorable moments that shape the collegiate athletic experience. My goal is to tell the stories that deserve to be told while creating an experience that makes our student-athletes, coaches and fans proud to be part of Warrior Athletics. Whether I'm behind the camera, on the sidelines or helping behind the scenes, I want to serve our student-athletes and help create an environment where they can thrive. I'm excited to bring fresh ideas and a creative approach to the department while continuing to serve a community that helped shape me into the leader and creative I am today. Most importantly, I'm grateful to God for the opportunity to give back to a place that has given so much to me."
