Warriors Lose Overtime Thriller Vs. Vanguard
Written By Edgardo Campos
SAN DIMAS, Calif.- Life Pacific University (LPU) was in conference play tonight when they hosted the Vanguard Lions. The game from tipoff was a war. A very entertaining game that went into overtime. In the first half, the Warriors shot 11-21(52%) from three-point land that helped them have a lead at halftime. Junior Guard Colin Cunniff led the attack making three from three-point land in a flash and everyone else followed. Early in the second half, the Warriors opened up a seven-point lead. They were unable to keep the momentum going from behind the arc and the Lions slowly crept their way back into the game. Down the stretch, each team exchange baskets and seemed as if they would take the game over in regulation. Neither of the teams folded. Life Pacific found themselves down two points with a few seconds left when Sophomore Forward Kyler Villarreal drove the ball into the paint and made a runner that sent the game into overtime. In overtime, the Warriors never really got their footing or any type of rhythm which led to the Lions winning by a final score of 85-75. LPU will be back in action on Saturday, February 20th when they take on Ottawa University-Arizona on Mehl Court at 7:30 pm.
