With Win Over La Sierra, Warriors Start Season 3-0 for First Time Since 2017

San Dimas, CA - On Thursday evening, the Warriors faced off against the Golden Eagles from La Sierra University.  The Warriors controlled the game from start to finish, ultimately securing the win by a final score of 90-78.  With the win, LPU improves to 3-0 on the season, which is the best start for the program since 2017.  This marked their second wire to wire victory of the season.

Their offense was on fire once again, as the Warriors scored 90 points for the second game in a row.  Kyler Villarreal led the way again for the Warriors, scoring 24 points on an efficient 10-15 shooting from the field.  He also had 4 rebounds and 5 assists to go along with his strong scoring performance.  Once again, Austin Cook flirted with a triple-double, as he finished with 7 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists.  Ethan Galang was electric on the scoring front as he contributed 17 points himself.  Adam Vasquez did a little bit of everything for LPU, finishing with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks.  Off of the bench, Albert Matute scored in double figures for the first time in a Warrior jersey.  He finished with 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.  As a team, the Warriors made another 13 3's, starting off the season strong from the perimeter.

When reflecting on the team's 3-0 start, Coach Tim Cook stated, "With a long road-trip to AZ and another tough opponent in La Sierra, our guys really have stuck to what we are trying to build.  They are playing so unselfish and playing hard on every play, which is allowing them to learn how to win as a team.  I'm so proud of these guys and their growth, which has led to the 3-0 start.  So excited for this team and the opportunity that we get to get better each day."
