LPU Men's Soccer 2022 Season Preview
San Dimas, CA - Life Pacific University's Men's Soccer team enter the 2022 season with an entirely new group. After taking a gap year as a program in 2021, the Warriors will look to re-establish themselves in the GSAC this Fall. The Warriors are led by first-year Head Coach, Joey DeSantis, who has his sights set on success for his team.
As they enter the 2022 season, the Men's Soccer team is led on the attack by forwards, Jacob Stratton and Adrian Ochoa. The midfielder group consists of steady play from Luis Mendoza, Angel Mata, Andy Garcia, Victor Montes, and Marco Mendoza. The backline of the defense is held down by defenders, Israel Ramirez, Savino Pinedo, Thomas Stratton, Andrew Alcaraz, Jorge Miranda, and Benjamin King. In the net, LPU expects to see dynamic play from Ezequiel Jimenez and Joshua Queiroga.
LPU kicks off their season next Tuesday with a home preseason matchup against the Raiders from Southern Oregon University, who finished last season with an impressive 15-3-1 record. This will prove to be a good test for the Warriors as they look to cement themselves as a threat in the NAIA. Their preseason schedule continues on with matchups against multiple NAIA opponents, including Park-AZ, Providence Christian, Westcliff, Antelope Valley, and Saint Katherine. The schedule is headlined by the matchup against NCAA DI opponent, Cal State Fullerton, who the Warriors face on August 28th.
Joey DeSantis enters his first season as the Head Coach of the program. When asked to share his thoughts about the upcoming season, Coach Joey stated, "We are excited for season to start and look forward to being able to represent the school and culture of LPU on the field this upcoming season. This will be an integral season in moving forward the program so we look forward to the opportunity being able to build a successful program at LPU."
