Warriors Compete At Vanguard Invitational
ORANGE, Calif. – LPU Cross-country competed at the Vanguard Invitational hosted at Irvine Regional Park this morning against programs from NCAA Division II, the NAIA, Community Colleges, and Club teams.
For the second time this season, Anthony Vargas was the first Warrior to cross the finish line. "I am very pleased with their confidence and determination. Robert Pinto and Anthony Vargas faced a steep lengthy hill at the 3-mile and 4-mile mark. I was excited about how they handled the hill and the pace that both of them were able to continue with after the hill," said Head Coach Martin Gonzalez.
Ashley Clay led the Warriors for the second consecutive time while also finishing with a personal record of 23:53. Not too far behind Clay was Lauryn Carroll who finished with her second-best time of the year. Rocio Chavez also set a personal record with a time of 24:24.
"Overall, It is exciting to see our Warriors improve either by time or adjusting and conquering the challenges of the course. It is great to see teamwork, pride, intensity, enthusiasm, and determination on race day. Today's course will be the GSAC Championship course on November 8. Our Warriors are excited and believe our best races are yet to come," concluded Gonzalez.
The next Warrior competition will be at the CSF Titan Invitational in Fullerton, CA on 10/25.
