Warriors Roll Past Bethesda for 98–74 Home Victory

San Dimas, Calif. — The Life Pacific University men's basketball team delivered a commanding performance on Wednesday night, defeating Bethesda University 98–74 at Mehl Court to improve to 2–1 on the season.

 

After a competitive opening stretch, the Warriors took control late in the first half, closing on a 12–2 run to lead 41–29 at halftime. They carried that momentum into the second half, shooting a blistering 64.9% from the field and 70% from three-point range, outscoring the Flames 57–45 after the break.

 

Sophomore guard Jayceon Smith powered the Warriors with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists, attacking efficiently at the rim and setting the tone on both ends. Kyjuan Cannady added 16 points and 5 rebounds, while Josh Hardeman contributed 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks, connecting on all three of his three-point attempts.

 

Xerian Anderson flirted with a double-double, stuffing the stat sheet with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 2 assists, anchoring LPU's defense in the paint. Off the bench, Albert Matute provided a spark with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, and Ayden Hamilton added 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.

 

Life Pacific dominated the stat sheet — shooting 56.9% from the floor, 52.4% from beyond the arc, and outrebounding Bethesda 50–28. The Warriors also tallied 19 assists, 20 second-chance points, and 40 points off the bench in a complete team effort.
