Aliso Viejo - On Monday evening, the Warrior's Men's Soccer program traveled to Aliso Viejo to take on CalPac opponent, Soka University, in a preseason matchup. The Warriors entered the match 0-4, after losses to multiple tough opponents. Despite being outshot for the match 17 shots to 12, the Warriors were able to come out victorious on the match, by a final score of 3-1. With the win, the Warriors move to 1-0 on the season.
The match was fairly quiet in the beginning of the match, with both teams taking two shots each in the first 15 minutes. In the 18th minute of the match, the Warriors were able to get on the board with a goal by Juan Rodriguez, who scored off the assist from Benjamin Montes De Oca.
Later in the first half, Ramiro Piza was able to capitalize on a touch in the box, scoring the Warrior's 2nd goal in the 36th minute. Soka responded with their own goal, two minutes before the end of the first half, resulting in LPU holding a narrow 2-1 lead.
Ezequiel Jimenez was crucial for the Warriors, resulting in 4 saves. The Warriors maintained their lead throughout the entirety of the 2nd half. In the 89th minute, Andrew Alcaraz took an attack into the box, resulting in a foul. Andy Garcia ended up taking the penalty kick, scoring the final goal of the game in the 89th minute. The Warriors ended up taking match by a final score of 3-1, starting their season off in the victory column,
